The Investigators.
Why does a program where psychics are providing the clues need an ex-detective of the NZ Police? What is his function? What is he investigating?
Well, we know. He's the one trying to find clues which might lend the program a little credibility.
Failing so far.
Along with the ex-detective, the program has used a psychologist to check for veracity.
Nigel Latta is the psychologist in question and we have no hesitation describing his input at BULLSHIT!
Nigel says this in his own website:
"I've spent over 17 years interviewing criminals in all kinds of settings and know a thing or two about spotting deception. My bullshit radar was quiet the whole day. Not most of the day, the whole day."
No, Nigel, the reason your bullshit radar was quiet all day was because it's BROKEN!.
Check out these comments, also attributed to Nigel (by the show's production team):
"As Nigel observed, the production team give no verbal or visual cues. How then, you can suggest they are "cold reading? Remember, Nigel is an expert at picking up the smallest, even unconscious visual cues.
Nigel Latta, who works interviewing some of NZ's worst criminals, believes he would have been able to tell if the psychic was recalling previously learnt information. He did not believe this was the case."
BULLSHIT!
If we accept this blatant bullshit as true, we could do away with jury trials in New Zealand and just use Nigel Latta to tell whether people are telling the truth, because Nigel can not only tell whether someone is telling the truth or lying, he can also tell whether you're recalling something or making it up!
What a man. Maybe he's psychic himself.
Or, maybe he's an author whose books haven't sold all that well and figured that publicity would be helpful.
There's a very good expose of Nigel Latta's bullshit here.
