Peter Leitch

aka (if you've been living in a hole for the last thirty years) the Mad Butcher.

Now, the butcher has his knockers, and I can state categorically that people who knock the crazy old bugger are either ignorant, stupid, jealous or any combination of the above.

He's the maddest Warriors and league supporter on the planet, but what makes him a hero is the fact that whatever Peter is doing, he'll drop it to help someone.

I doubt anyone, including Peter himself, would have him as the smartest bloke in the country, but he might just have the biggest heart.

He's an inspiration to people across the land, and even across the Ditch, these days.

Leitchy, Butch, Mad, call him what you like, but don't call him anything other than a good bastard. Sportspeople write their memoirs and rake in the cash. When Butch writes his, what happens to the profits? To charity - every last drop of it.

There's no greatness in giving away money, any rich bastard can do that, but what Peter brings is effort and time. His time and his efforts have been an outstanding contribution by a Kiwi to life in the 21st century.

And don't let anyone tell you differently.

Good on ya, Mad!
