Jon is New Zealand's greatest ever magician, which on its own hardly makes him worth legendary status, but Jon is that rarest of breeds, an honest bloke.

Jon is capable of tricks which can make your eyes pop out with their brilliance, but Jon has always made people aware that his is performance art, conjuring, illusion and prestidigitation.

Being the honest bloke he is, Jon felt it incumbent on himself to show up charlatans for what they are - serial con-artists - and thoroughly debunked Philippine "psychic surgery" when a wave of belief in this dangerous bullshit swept the country.

Unfortunately, as Jon himself describes, when you've just shown someone how he wasted $10,000, he's not likely to get you to do his kids' birthday party next week. His career no doubt suffered from his debunking of frauds, a poor testament to a guy with the balls to stand up to idiocy.

Jon is thoroughly deserving of legendary status and in many societies would already have had that accorded to him.
