Alan McDiarmid
One of the three Kiwi winners of Nobel Prizes, Alan McDiarmid's name will live on as the co-inventor of a range of polymers which are changing the future of electronics.
A Kiwi through-and-through, he pursued his academic career in USA and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2000 - jointly with two other scientists.
