Bios & Ecotube - the science
Bios makes some claims about heating the fuel and creating a vortex which changes the way the fuel is used in the motor.
As always, it's relatively easy to break this sort of silly pseudoscience down into its component parts.
What affect is heating the fuel going to have?
Very little. There are several things to consider: the fuel is apparently heated by using the coolant from the radiator to heat the fuel before it passes through a vortex, then into the engine. This, apparently, makes it burn more cleanly, thereby increasing power.
Quite how stirring the fuel ( a vortex) makes it work better has no explanation at all.
Warming the fuel is a possibility for reducing consumption, but as Victoria University's School of Chemical and Physical Sciences state in the Consumer article, such saving is likely to be identical to using less accelerator. The warmth of the fuel cannot change the combustion.
One other problem arises from heating the fuel as well. How long does it take to heat fuel to the optimum? How long does fuel stay in the fuel line for? It seems to me that fuel passes fairly rapidly through small tubes, making heating it a very tricky business.
I shall post further details if I receive more information from Bios. In the meantime, the science behind the device is dubious at best and highly unlikely in honesty.
