So far, I have only been able to track down one referee, Darren Guard, a fisherman from Nelson. He told me that the device saved him an average 18% on fuel over a year before it stopped working. He has no idea how it works.
I have contacted Greater Wellington Regional Council to get details of their experience and will post as soon as it comes to hand.
The GWRC has replied today:
We at Greater Wellington Regional Council stopped using this device as servicing dealers were not made familiar with them and consequently removed them from some of our vehicles stating that warranty could be affected.
So, far from seeing them in all vehicles, the council gave up because the device invalidates the vehicle warranty. That should be a lesson for anyone contemplating using the device on anything still under warranty - manufacturers will not allow these devices to be fitted.
